Editorial policy & methodology

How we research, cite, update, and correct guides for international patients considering treatment in Korea.

Last updated: October 2026

Who writes our guides

Guides are researched, written and edited by the Peep Korea editorial team, and are published under that team byline rather than under individual names.

Medical review is separate from writing. When an independent medical reviewer has checked a guide, their name, specialty and review date appear on that guide (see Medical reviewers).

How we research

Clinical and regulatory claims in our guides are based on sources we can name and link. Preferred sources, in rough order of weight:

  • Peer-reviewed studies and systematic reviews indexed in major medical databases
  • Official Korean regulators and agencies: the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI / Medical Korea)
  • Major medical organisations such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), when they publish patient-facing or clinical guidance relevant to the topic
  • Primary legislation and official notices (for example, Korean medical law, visa rules and tax notices)

Clinic menus, aggregator price lists, and unverified social posts are not treated as clinical evidence. When we use them for price ranges, we label them as compiled ranges, not as quotes or official statistics.

How citations work

Each guide that makes checkable claims ends with a numbered reference list. Inline markers such as (ref. 1, 3) point to that list so a reader can verify the sentence.

Where we cannot find a reliable source, we say so in the text rather than fill the gap with a guess. Unsourced statistics are not published as facts.

Update cadence

Every published guide shows a last-updated month. We review guides when:

  • Regulations, taxes, or visa rules that affect patients change
  • Major new evidence changes what the guide says
  • A reader or clinician flags a specific error
  • At least once per calendar year for high-traffic medical guides, even if nothing obvious has changed

A date change means we looked again. It does not by itself mean a licensed physician re-reviewed the article.

Corrections

If something is wrong, we want to fix it. Email hello@peepkorea.com with the page URL, the sentence that is wrong, and a better source if you have one.

Factual errors are corrected in the live article. Material corrections are noted with an update date. We do not quietly rewrite a contested claim to look as if it was always right.

Independence and paid placement

Peep Korea does not sell article placements, ranking slots, or "featured clinic" positions inside our guides. A clinic paying us more will never be a reason to recommend it in editorial content.

We do not run discounts or promotions inside guides. Price ranges are educational ranges compiled from published sources and clinic lists, not paid offers.

If we ever accept sponsorship that could create a conflict on a given page, we will disclose it on that page in plain language. As of this policy's last update, guide content is not sponsored.

Medical reviewers

We are onboarding independent medical reviewers — licensed specialists in dermatology, dentistry, and plastic surgery. That process is under way and is not finished yet.

Until a specialist has reviewed a guide, the guide does not carry a reviewer's name, and we will not imply that it has been medically reviewed. Once a guide is reviewed, the reviewer's name, specialty, and review date will appear at the top of the article.

Medical disclaimer

Peep Korea publishes general health and aesthetic information for educational purposes. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing on this site replaces an examination by a qualified physician who knows your history.

Decisions about surgery, injectables, medications, or travel for care should be made with a licensed clinician. If you have an urgent medical problem, seek local emergency care — do not wait for an email reply from us.
